The Provincial Government of South Kalimantan is begining to implement blue economy-based marine and fisheries priorities program, Head of Maritime Affairs and Fishery Office Rusdi Hartono informed, Friday.
The five priorities, he said, first is expanding marine conservation area. Second, quota-based measurable fishing, dan the third is developing sustainable marine, coastal, and land aquaculture.
The fourth would be supervision and control of coastal areas and small islands. The last is cleaning up plastics waste in the sea with fishermen's participation in Sea Love Month movement.
These five priorities, Rusdi said, will be strengthened by regional regulation that is related with the provincial spatial plan.
The approval for the technical materials for South Kalimantan coastal waters, he said, had been handed over by the Minister of Marine and Fisheries at the opening of Technical Work Meeting of the Directorate General of Marine Spatial Management in Batam, Riau Islands, recently.
With this approval, sea zoning from 0 mile to 12 miles is ready to be integrated with land spatial planning.
"Next is regional regulation on spatial plan for South Kalimantan will be drafted in accordance with the mandate of Job Creation Law," said Rusdi.
Previously, the province's regional regulation (perda) on spatial plan divided into two, namely Regional Regulation No.9 of 2015 concerning South Kalimantan Regional Spatial Plan, and Regional Regulation No.13 of 2018 concerning Zoning of Coastal Areas and Small Islands.
According to him, in the content of latest technical material there are slight changes, but in principle, his party really accomodate the interest of fishermen.
"So that the cultivation of fish and the traditional coastal communities continues to exist in running their business, and it also provides space for investment for the use of sea space, which can spur growth and employment, while still prioritizing the preserving of marine ecosystems," he Rusdi.
