The 1010-07/Piani Subdistrict Military Command (Koramil) makes it headquarters a room for free tutoring to enhance the quality of education for children in coal mining area in Tapin District, South Kalimantan.

Commander of 1010-07/Piani Military Command Capt. Inf. Waluyo said the initiative to provide free tutoring was to address the imbalance in the quality of education, while soldiers wanted to take part in realizing Indonesia's golden generation which is a big goal.

"The quality of education in Piani is clearly far behind compared to schools in the city," he said here, Thursday.

Learning activities for elementary level are carried out from Monday to Friday beginning 14.00. In addition, Wednesday is an English day, and it is a mandatory to read on Thursday.

Koramil provides two teachers for general lesson and one English teacher.

"At certain moment, sometimes our members insert Pancasila educational materials and national insights," Waluyo said.

Students who are considered potential or have advantages have the opportunity to win scholarship to improve their education.

"We will strive for it and look for a third party to facilitate scholarships. For example a mining company. We have discussed the plans to support children's education," he said.

The free tutoring began in October 2021, and over time, parents, who are mostly rubber farmers, have been called upon to send their children here. Now the number of studentws has increased by 100 percent more.

"Initially my target was only 30 students, Alhamdulillah (praise be to Allah), now it has increased to sekarang 79 children," said Waluyo.

No requirement to take part, he said, all children around the Piani Koramil have the right to take part and enjoy the free ecucational service.

A number of companies operating in Piani, Waluyo said, are now also providing assistance, such as for procuring tables, stationery, internet networks, and books.

"Id parties have the intention to participate in educating the nation's children, if I may suggest it would be better to provide tutoring support. Currently various reading books are needed to add to students' references," he said.

Waluyo said, as an initiator his party is wide open for collaboration with any party or anyone who want to be involved in realizing a golden generation that comes from the hilly area surrounding the coal mine.

"With a small movement through this free learning room, our big goal is just to contribute to realizing Indonesia's golden generation in the future," he said.

Today's success, Waluyo admitted, cnnot be separated from the touch of various parties, namely stakeholders from acroos sectors in Piani .

"Companies are also starting to come up, such as PT Bhumi Rantau Energi, PT Energi Batu Bara Lestari, PT Hasnur Riung Sinergi, and PT Antang Gunung Meratus. For all parties, let's work together to educate the nation's children," said Waluyo.
