Batulicin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Government of Tanah Bumbu, South Kalimantan, setting the standard price of rubber for anticipating farmers losses.


"When the price of rubber fell, farmers can sell to local government through the regional company (perusda) as an existing price," said Regent Tanah Bumbu Mardani H. Maming in Batulicin Thursday.

He said if the price of rubber began to stabilize, the farmer can sell rubber to the company or merchant, more profitable and more competitive.

"In this way, farmers will no longer suffer losses, as the current conditions when the rubber price is always fluctuating," he explained.

According to Regent, rubber price drop lately in Tanah Bumbu impact on the economic resilience of the rubber farmers weakened, and is expected to last only two months.

Therefore, Tanah Bumbu distict trying to find the best solution to overcome even greater losses, so there must be an agreement that price is determined by both parties of purchaser or regional companies and farmers.

Hopefully, with the standard price agreed by both parties later can provide benefits for rubber farmers.

"When the price of rubber dropped, farmers can store or hoard rubber, and not in a hurry to sell to speculators or middlemen," he said.

In addition, farmers no longer haunted by the uncertainty of the price. If the price is still not stable, local authority is ready to buy rubber stored by the farmers.

The regulation to form Perusda which will manage the price of rubber is now being reviewed by the executive and legislative branches.

"We ensure by the presence of the Perusda farmers' living standards will rise and prosper," he said.
