Tanjung, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - A total of 300 cows in Tabalong, South Kalimantan, are subjected to simultaneous mating injection through Sexual Arousal and Artificial Insemination (GBIB) program.

Head of the Tabalong Livestock and Fisheries Fahrial Fuaddy in Tanjung on Wednesday said GBIB programs implemented since 2015 is expected to increase the birth rate of cattle in the region.

"Last year we received assistance of artificial insemination to 500 cows and the realization was 300 cows we gave hormones to quickly pregnant," said Fahrial.

Through this program, the cow is expected to experience desire at the same time and this year cattle population in the district is targeted to rise.

Head of Animal Husbandry Akhmad Robyani said total cattle population is now 3,101 heads with a reduction of about 20.43 per cent from the initial population 3,985 head.

While GBIB programs implemented in the sub-district with high enough cattle population. They namely are Jaro, Muara Uya, Haruai and Tanjung.

"The high demand for local beef cause us to bring cows from outside Tabalong. Therefore continues the efforts to increase the cattle population," said Robyani.
