Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Governor of South Kalimantan Sahbirin Noor plunge himself into Tatas River when cleaning the shallow river due to high sludge and household waste.


He was along with South Kalimantan Regional Secretary Muhammad Arsyadi, heads of working units (SKPD) of the Provincial Government, the Mayor of Banjarmasin Ibnu Sina, NGOs, a number of communities, as well as students.

Governor, who is often called Uncle Birin, did not hesitate to plunge into the river to pick up garbage. The cleaning action performed on the ​​Tatas river in the area of Grand Mosque of Sabilal Muhtadin.

"We need a clean environment. Clean and healthy make people feel comfortable and interested," said the governor after the volunteer work.

The governor said, when splashing into the river, he knew and felt immediately how the condition of the river now, which was a lot of mud, plus a pile of garbage such as mattresses, plastic, and so on.

Involvement and public awareness, he said, is very important if you want the state of rivers in Banjarmasin better. That awareness includes maintaining the cleanliness of the facilities provided by the government such as bins those are often missing from their places.

Not merely let his clothes soiled with mud, Sahbirin several times raised the barrel of trash into a freight car, even participated in touring the area.

Although the governor has pointed out the seriousness of cleaning up the environment, but only a few SKPD heads that followed. There were even avoid or seek further positions.
