Barabai, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The government of Central Hulu Sungai (HST) through the Education, Sports, Culture and Tourism Agency offers a challenging nature bamboo rafting adventure.


Head of HST Education, Sports, Culture and Tourism Agency (Disporabudpar) H Rusmayadi in Barabai on Saturday said the idea to develop nature tourism comes from citizens who want to offer an alternative to travel down the river using bamboo rafts.

"Such as bamboo rafting we have conducted on March 12, 2016. It was nice to be developed, thereby increasing regional tourist destination," he said.

According to Rusmayadi, bamboo rafting is a new travel here to preserve old culture and is expected to create business opportunities, which can suck the local workforce while increasing original area income.

"River tourism worth to dig continuing to increase tourist traffic from within and outside the region," he said.

Previously, 33 teams enliven the bamboo rafting, wading Benawa river. The action took start in Manggasang, Sub-district of Hantakan, followed by the general public, government officials, police, and military from Bataliyon 621 Manuntung and Kodim 1002 Barabai.

The participants reached the finish in the attraction Pagat, after conquering the rapids that challenge a number of points along the route.

A number of participants claimed to painstakingly conquered several extreme paths of Benawa river, where the current is fairly swift and the water deep, because of rain. Some participants' rafts even destroyed hit rocks.

"Alhamdulillah. It feels good to be able to conquer the extreme path, along with jockey who should control a nimble," said Suryani, one of the participants from Hantakan.
