Banjarmasin, Kalsel (AntaranewsKalsel) - The City Government through the Environment Agency (BLHD) hold cleaning river competition by involving non-government organizations and environmentalist as committee.
The Banjarmasin BLHD head Hamdi said the committee has been handed over to community. It is headed by Norhalis Majid with his deputy Fathurrahman, Gusti Indra as secretary, H Muhammad Ridha as treasurer, Hasan Zainuddin as PR, and Amalia in Logistics.
The competition aims to grow people participation that they involve in rivers revitalization by making stakeholder groups and design programs to save rivers in their own neighborhood.
Through this the city administration wants to build people participation and encourage a variety of innovation to restore rivers function and conditions in their own environments.
"Each sub-district will propose three rivers and committee come to survey to choose one of them and determine stakeholders amount, that they will be responsible for the river. Each group to be accompanied by companion organization," he explained.
The contest covers processing and sorting of waste, landfill, waste banks, make the river clean, real action of revitalization, sustainable, and environmentally friendly sanitation program.
Also contested are greening of the riverbanks, arrangement of greening, green open land utilization, citizen participation that stakeholders work with them to clean rivers, participation, youth involvement in the revitalization.
"Notices for board, poster appeal, nameplate, directions and others in the rivers area of competition will be the assessment by a jury," he said.
The competition will be gradually from March (such as socialization, registration and determination of contest area), and continue to April and May for implementation of programs by stakeholder groups, assistance by environmentalist, then the initial assessment and monitoring.
The final assessment will be in June to determine the champion, said Hamdi.
