Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Five raw mineral processing companies (smelter) which are expected to be operational in 2017 in three districts in South Kalimantan will become a new supporting of the province economic growth.
Head of the Foreign Trade Department of South Kalimantan Industry and Trade Agency (Disperindag) Gusti Yasni Iqbal here on Tuesday said if the five smelter industry really operates here, then the increase in South Kalimantanexport value could reach 300 percent.
"If the smelter industries were operating, our exports will be really stretched, because the value of raw steel material is much higher than coal, and the market is still very wide," he said.
Five companies are now in the development process. Two companies in Tanah Laut, two in Tanah Bumbu and one in the District of Kotabaru.
In 2016, he added, growth of export value and volume in the province continued to decline, particularly coal mining sector.
"Until now, the export of coal is still difficult to get up. In addition to the low price, various problems in the country are also big influence on exports," he said.
One of the provisions of the most difficult to meet is exporters royalties must be paid off, when coal shipped overseas. Such provisions, he said, is difficult to do by some mining companies in South Kalimantan, especially mining concession (KP).
