Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Banjarmasin Water Police Unit (Satpolair) was investigating the discovery of a male corpse floating on the Kelayan River, South Banjarmasin.


"A body floating on the river was first discovered by local residents and immediately caused a commotion. Then we drove to the scene," said Chief of water police AKP Untung Widodo Sst in Banjarmasin on Friday.

Police with residents and joint emergency team immediately evacuated the victim to the Ulin General Hospital morgue.

From investigation in the field, the victim identified as Muhammad Hakim (23), a resident of Kelayan B Rt 21/23, South Banjarmasin.

"There were some witnesses that we have examined to know the chronology and check the identity of the victim," said the man who is familiar with the media crew.

He explained, the victim was found drowned on Friday (12/2) afternoon not far from the his house.

"The result of post-mortem showed the victim was purely drowning and no signs of violence on his body," said Untung.

Satpolair appealed to residents who live on rivers embankment or who have activities on the waters to always be careful and use safety equipment such as life jackets and other tools.
