Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Kotabaru District, South Kalimantan, will immediately build a reservoir (embung) worth Rp34 billion by using state budget funds to address the shortage of clean water.


Vice Chairman of Commission III of the DPRD Kotabaru Denny Hendro Kurnianto here on Thursday explained, the reservoir will be built in the Tirawan village, North Pulaulaut.

"We immediately held a hearing with stakeholders related to the fulfillment of clean water," said Denny.

According to him, in order to ensure the validity of data and information, the ranks of Commission III did a consultation meeting with Rivers Agency Region II Office of South Kalimantan.

Denny said Commission III together with the executive immediately prepared any provisions required in filing program. "The information we received, the submission to the central government no later than February 18, 2016. Each of the parties work together to complete everything required to be proposed," said Denny.

As a result of the struggle of all the components of the area, Kotabaru received state budget funds amounting to Rp34 billion in 2016 for development and improvement of raw water storages or embung (reservoir for rainwater) in the area of Mount Tirawan.

Subsequently in 2017, the state budget has been allocated as well for the improvement and development of infrastructure of raw water reservoirs in the area of Sungai Saratak.

"Overall, the Kotabaru government filed at least nine points for the reservoirs building, but the central government approved only gradually. Not only Kotabaru, but other areas have the same conditions also a concern of the central government," he said.
