Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Trisakti Port passenger terminal now has a mini zoo with a collection of various animals.
"Since mid-2015 the company has realized a mini zoo to give the feel of a natural and humane for prospective passengers," said General Manager of state own port operator Pelindo III Banjarmasin Hengki Jajang Herasmana.
Although the operation of the passenger terminal is not a core business it relied upon as a source of income, but Pelindo III Banjarmasin still all out doing repair service and want to remove the impression that sea transport terminal passenger tend to be monotonous and just the way it is: come, waiting for the ship, as the ship comes they climb aboard without any impression.
"Passenger Terminal Bandarmasih won Prima Utama award in two consecutive years from the Ministry of Transportation. It motivated us to improve the quality of service," said Hengki.
"That's why we launched the Passenger Terminal Bandarmasih become natural and humane nuanced areas as part of our dream to make Banjarmasin port as an eco friendly port," he added.
The mini zoo named as Bandarmasih park is located on the left side or at the side entrance to the passenger terminal. It is equipped with vertical garden, fountain containing koi fish, a mini waterfall and birds garden. And can be seen from the passenger terminal, as part of the wall has been replaced with a glass wall and give a direct view.
Decorated variety of fresh plants, Bandarmasih garden now inhabited by primates and several species of birds such as the starling Kebo, Love Bird, Australian parakeets, Lincang and Wren.
Some of these animals are surrogate of BKSDA who confiscated them before being smuggled.
