The Kotabaru District Government has signed a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) with the National Cyber ??and Encryption Agency (BSSN) in utilizing electronic certificates for security of its electronic system.

Deputy Head of BSSN Commisioner General (Komjen) Drs Luki Hermawan said, Indonesia must be prepared to face the threat of data abuse crimes because data is more valuable than oil. Thus, BSSN is trying to improve the security and protection of government data through electronic means. 

"Through this electronic certificate collaboration, of course, the data security of the central, provincial and district governments will be protected from cyber crimes by misuse of data," he said in a press statement.

Besides Kotabaru, a number of regions in Indonesia that also signed the PKS with the BSSN are Tomohon, Gorontalo, Bener Meriah, Nagekeo, West Sulawesi, Majene, Siak, West Manggarai, Probolinggo, Tanjung Jabung Timur, Pekalongan, Rembang, and the Tanjung District Court.

Acting Head of the Kotabaru Communications and Information Office (Diskominfo) H Akhmad Rivai said this collaboration would certainly to make public service easy for the community and in the future efforts are made to improve the performance of the State Civil Apparatus (ASN), especially in Kotabaru.

"We will increase human resources for ASN (related to) this (cooperation with) BSSN so that it can provide convenience in serving the community," Rivai said in Kotabaru, as reported on Thursday.
