Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Kotabaru District government now seeking to hold port operator PT Pelindo III and coal mining company PT Adaro to support the establishment of Special Economic Zones (KEK) Mekar Putih.


Acting Regent H Isra here on Saturday said the district has a dream that in order to revive the economy, particularly in Pulaulaut, it need to build special economic zones.

"The developed town begins with the rise of an advanced economy," said Isra.

The same thing also delivered by Regional Secretary H Suriansyah, that in realizing KEK in Kotabaru, the district government will conduct cooperation with many parties, who want to invest here.

"With many investment, the `Saijaan Earth` (Kotabaru's nickname) will be easier to realize KEK in Kotabaru, "said Suriansyah.

Head of Kotabaru Development Planning Board (Bappeda) H Ansyar Noor expects the same, private parties willing to invest in Kotabaru.

According to Ansar, with the presence of PT Adaro and Pelindo to invest here, Mekar Putih KEK program will be quickly realized and the construction and economy in Kotabaru will grow rapidly.

Some of the advantages owned by Kotabaru than other areas, including it is rich in natural resources, fisheries, tourism, and others.

Kotabaru even the location lies in the middle region of Indonesia, has the possibility to be used as maritime shaft.

Denny Hermato from Pelindo III revealed, in principle it agreed to invest in Kotabaru. However, the company expects the local government help it with the licensing process.
