Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The number of traffic accidents in the Banjarmasin Police jurisdiction have increased in 2015 compared to 2014.


"Traffic accident is increasing in this city during 2015," said Chief of Banjarmasin Police Kombes Pol Drs Wahyono MH here on Thursday.

He said the public awareness in traffic in this city is still low, especially in getting to know and abide by the rules and traffic signs on the highway.

Data in the Banjarmasin Traffic Police (Satlantas) shows number of traffic accidents in 2014 at 48 cases, while in 2015 as many as 68 cases. An increase of 20 cases is equal to 42 percent.

Wahyono said the victims died in 2014 as many as 38 people and in 2015 as many as 41 people, or an increase of three people.

While the victims seriously injured in 2014 as many as 22 people and became 34 people in 2015. An increase of 12 people was equal to 55 percent.

Data accidents with victims suffered minor injuries in the year 2014 as many as 17 people, while in 2015 as many as 31 people, or increased by 14 people.

"We can see victims of traffic accidents in 2014 and in 2015 has increased," he told AntaranewsKalsel.

Banjarmasin police chief, also said that for the settlement of traffic accidents in 2014 were 38 cases and in 2015 as many as 39 cases.

"Banjarmasin Police hopes people can be more careful and aware of the procedures for the correct traffic on the highway, and always adhere to the existing rules and always keep safety in traffic," he said.
