Head of Tapin Agriculture Agency Wagimin revelead that hundreds of hectares of paddy fields in the district are in danger of being damaged due to flooding. 

"A total 30 hectares paddy field affected by the flood in Tapin Selatan Sub-district and 270 hectares in Binuang Sub-district," he said on Wednesday when confirmed. 

Agriculture officers in the field have reported, he said, so far no rice fields are categorized as harvest failure (puso) or damaged. 

"But if flood inundation for 7-10 days does not subside it will affect to puso 270 hectares of paddy fields in Binuang, because the rice plants are still young, only one month old," he expounded.

A temporary report from the agency stated that the sub-districts of Tapin Utara, Bungur, and Bakarangan were also affected by flood. 

"If puso occurs due to flooding, the local government will immediately provide rice seed assistance to farmers so they can plant agin soon," he said. 

Currently, agriculture officers are still conducting supervision and monitoring in the five sub-districts to collect data on the impact of flood on agriculture land.  

Rivers in Tapin overflowed their banks on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, and caused flooding, BPBD reported. Previously, there were heavy rainfall in the last few days. 

However, the BPBD report stated that several points of flood have receded.
