Tapin Regional Secretary H Masyaraniansyah said that cooking oil scarity does not occur in the district.
"Availabity is not a problem," he said when observing cooking oil at the Keraton Market, Rantau, as reported on Saturday.
Even though there was no scarcity, but cooking oil remained expensive. whereas Ramadhan 2022, when prices of basic need are usually high, is approaching.
"The prices of packaged cooking oil varied on the market in Tapin District ranging from Rp40,000 to Rp50,000 per two liters depend on brand and quality," he said.
Meanwhile, bulk cooking oil is sold around Rp14,000 per liter, and available on the market.
Tapin Police Chief AKBP Ernesto Saiser said market supervision is carried out as a preventive effort as well as to check its stock to avoid any trader to commit hoarding.
"In addition to check the market stock of cooking oil, we remind traders not to do hoarding. Tapin Police will not hesitate to take legal action," he asserted.
The crime of hoarding is threatened with Article 113 Law No. 18 of 2012 concerning food and Article 107 Law No. 7 of 2014 concerning trade.

"Anyone who hoard wil be objected with multiple articles and threatened with 7 years of prison and a fine of Rp100 billion," he said.
Supervision of the development of price and supply of cooking oil were conducted by the district government together with Forkopimda (the district Leadership Coordination Forum).
They also reviewed Domestic Market Obligation (DMO) related to the policy of the Ministry of Trade regarding one-price subsidized cooking oil.
