Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Member of the Regional Representative Council (DPD) Habib Abdurrahman Bahasyim asked the government to monitor the oil palm companies to avoid further large-scale burning of land to cause calamity of dense smoke.


"Many people told me that the land and forest fires in Kalimantan so far as deliberate," said Habis who is a member of the Special Committee on Smoke in DPD here on Sunday.

The man known as Habib Banua believes 99 percent of forest and land fires were on purpose. This means that there are burner for particular purpose and there have been many oil palm companies in Kalimantan.

For 1.5 months Smoke Special Committee has been formed, DPD has found many data that forest fires in Kalimantan and Sumatra were intended to the expansion of oil palm land by unscrupulous certain oil companies.

"The government must be very firm. If not, would never ends over the years, will be even worse," he said.

As in the area of ​​South Kalimantan, he said, the police had conveyed to the public that there are a number of oil palm companies named as suspects of burning land and forests. Then what follow-ups must be obvious, including in Sumatra and others.
