Commander (Dandim) of 1003/Hulu Sungai Selatan (HSS) Military Command Lt. Col. Inf. Nurliwedie Nurdin Kanan opened vertical rescue school class 182 at the Monument of 17 Mei 1949, Batu Bini Village, Padang Batung Sub-district, South Hulu Sungai (HSS), South Kalimantan.
VRS, that was organized by the HSS Youth, Sports, and Tourism Agency (Disporapar) was attended by 60 participants from West Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, and South Kalimantan.
"This activity is a process of learning to unite mindset and patterns of action in handling cases in the field," said dandim in his remarks, Saturday (February 26, 2022).
Vertical Rescue is a SAR operation process with the technique of evacuating victims from low to higher points or vice versa on steep terrain.
Participants, he said, with the skills they were trained were expected to be able to use them to help people and main the safety factor.
VRS was also expected to create regeneration in vertical rescue and grow new volunteers who are ready todedicate themselves to helping people.
“Hopefully activities like this will generate a lot of interest in the community, especially younger generation to participate to increase knowledge and skills, and preparing trained human resources to respond anything happen in the future, including in an emergency conditions,” he said.
