The Swampland Agriculture Research Institute (Balittra) has officially opened the Swamp Farm Science Park (TSP) on Jalan Karang Anyar 1, North Loktabat, North Banjarbaru, for the public beginning Thursday (February 24, 2022).
The park was inaugurayed by Banjarbaru Deputy Mayor Wartono who was accompanied by acting Head of Food Security, Agriculture, and Fishery Agency (DKP3) and attended by Head of the Agriculture Ministry's Center for Agricultural Soil Resources (BBSDLP) Husnain and Tanah Bumbu Regent Zairullah Azhar.
The inauguration was initiated by touring the TSP using motorized cart in a large swampy area filled with object plants studied by Balittra and then stopping at the dock and harvesting cultivated fish.

The Banjarbaru government then inked an MoU with the Agriculture Ministry's Agricultural Research and Development Agency (Balitbangtan) on research, development, education, tourism, and swamp agricultural management based on innovation technology in Banjarbaru.
"Swampland in Banjarbaru is very potential to be utilized and the land is also large reaching 3,000 hectares but only a small part has been used for agriculture, including food products to support the community's economy," he said.
He appreciated the opening of TSP as the right innovation in managing the swampland that could be utilized and managed for various purposes from agriculture to tourism.
"We hope the opening of TSP will increase productivity and competitiveness of agriculture products in additon to expide effort to introduce innovation in swampland agriculture technology to the wider community," he said.
Head of BBSDLP Husnain said Balittra have to cooperate with the regional government in various areas to utilize swampland which has not been worked out optimally.
