Pelaihari, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Director of PDAM Tanah Laut Eko Sugiharto said due to a prolonged dry season tap water distribution to subscribers only five percent of 4,000 customers.


"The drought this year is almost the same as in 1997, when the raw water for PDAM Tanah Laut dried," said Eko Sugiharto, in Pelaihari Tuesday.

The drying up of three raw water sources, according to him, make local taps company not optimal serving its 4,000 customers, because the only source of raw water can still be used only drilled well in the area of Angsau, Pelaihari.

Three sources of raw water which owned by PDAM Tanah Laut are Kintap River, Tabonio River and Maluka Baulin River, but all are dried and can not be expected.

Given this reality, he said, the taps company need to find new sources of raw water and carry out maintenance of the three existing sources.

One of the raw water source of concern for maintenance, he explained, is Tabonio as a potential source which is pretty close to the Pelaihari.

Then, he said, to add the source of raw water ponds has now been constructed in the area of ​​PTPN XIII Pelaihari. The current condition of the construction has been 95 percent.
