A total of 200 participants took part in the wild boar hunting race to win the 2022 Tanah Laut Regent Cup. The race also to disseminate on how to hunt according to ethics as well as tourism promotion.

Regent HM Sukamta said the participants who took part in the competition were all members of the Indonesian Shooting Association (Perbakin) Tanah Laut.

"Participants will hunt wild boar pest on plantation owned by residents and several private companies," said HM Sukamta, after flagged off the participants of the race in Pertasi Kencana Field, Pelaihari, Friday (20/1).

According to him, internally the compeition is to improve the professionalism of members of Perbakin Tanah Laut.

"Externally helping peope whose garden are heavily affected by the pests, as well as socializing hunting ethics," said the regent.

So far, he explained,  people often assemble their own hunting tool that are not up to standard. 

"This is the concern of our Perbakin members to socialize so that the community does not have to deal with the law," Sukamta said.

The hunting safari, he said, will be regularly scheduled by the Tanah Laut government every year.

"The most hog pest hunters will get a prize of million rupiah. The first winner Rp7 million, the second Rp5 million, the third Rp3.5 million, and a bike for the hopeful winner," he said.
