Adaro together with the University of Lambung Mangkurat livestock team held livestock health and biosecurity training at the Al Islam Islamic Boarding School, Kambitin Village, Tabalong District, Friday (Dec 3, 2021).
This is a continuation of the Adaro Santri Sejahtera (PASS) program by Adaro in collaboration with ULM through the 2021 Matching Fund scheme since September 2021.
One of the livestock team members Asep Yusuf said that the health of livestock is a very important aspect of the success of livestock cultivation.
“If you want to make a profit, the condition of the livestock must be clean and healthy," he explained.
Farmers or breeders need to do livestock health management or biosecurity. The principle is simple, namely how to prevent germs from coming in and out.
“We must prevent germs from outside to enter and if there are inside that grow, the contamination can be minimized so that no germs come out,” he pointed out.
The team also provided knowledge to santri (boarding school students), internship students, and ULM's KKN participants regarding types of medicine and vitamins for livestock. They showed the samples also injection for livestock and taught the procedures for administering medicine and vitamins to livestock.
“So they know how to inject and what dose should be given to livestock,” said Asep.
“The head must be held so as not to go butt, and you are on its back so it does not move,” Asep explained while injecting one of the goats at the Al Islam Boarding School during the training activity.
The boarding school's Pokja (working group) admitted they were very happy and enthusiastic about the training provided by the team.
“We understand better how to care for livestock properly,” said Ahmad Hanafi as the chief of the Pokja.
