Flood disasters again inundated dozens of villages in the Balangan District and forced hundreds of people to flee to the nearest place of evacuation in their villages.
Balangan Regent Abdul Hadi appealed to all residents affected by flooding to always be vigilant and take care of themselves and their family members.
"People must beware of snakes because in a previous flood there was a resident who was bitten by a snake," said Abdul Hadi in Paringin, Sunday.
The floods due to overflowing of Batang Pitap River swamped the villages of Mayanau, Simpang bumbuan, Simpang nadong, Auh, Ju'uh, and Sungsum in Tebing Tinggi Sub-district, and villages of Tundakan Hulu, Ambakiang, Pulantan, Muara Jaya, and Awayan Hilir in Awayan Sub-district.

Meanwhile, the overflow of Batang Balangan River caused flooding in the villages of Puyun, Mamantang, Tabuan, Binuang Santang, Mantuyan, Uren, Karya Mauya, Kapul, and Hauwai in Halong Sub-district, and villages of Lalayau, Mihu, Bata in Juai Sub-district.
According to information in the field, several villages in other sub-districts were also affected by flooding, such as Tariwin Village in Batumandi Sub-district, and several points in Batu Piring Urban Village.
Novita Sari, a resident of Tebing Tinggi Village, said that the flood this time was more severe than the previous flood at the beginning of the year.
"This is a fairly severe flood because the village of Auh has never been flooded before. Today it has even flooded to the street," said Novita.
Acting Head of Balangan Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) H Rahmi said the agency kept on stand by in the field to monitor the situation in several sub-districts that affected by floods and evacuated residents.
