Banjarbaru Mayor H M Aditya Mufti Ariffin is optimistic that 70 percent of the city residents will get COVID-19 jab by the end of November as it was previously targeted.

"We are optimistic by the end of November the vaccination for the public will reach 70 percent," he said when reviewing the vaccination for students and farmers fostered by the city's Chamber of Commerce (Kadin) at the SMK-PP Negeri Banjarbaru, Monday.

He said if the vaccinated people reached 70 percent, it is hoped that the group immunity to be built and can prevent transmission and spread of COVID-19 in the city.

To meet the 70 percent figure about 40,000 people in the city must be inoculated. Currently, the vaccination has reached 54 percent of the total 195,000 target people.

"We urge people who have not been vaccinated to immediately register to puskesmas (community health centers), health service center, or to hospital and Bapelkes (Health Training Center) that carry out vaccination," he said.
