The Haji Damanhuri Hospital (RSHD) in Barabai will have its own Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), a laboratory examination tool to detect genetic material from cells, bacteria, and viruses with a budget of IDR9.9 billion.

The procurement of the tool to meet the medical equipment in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic is already underway at the E-Katalog. Currently, the hospital is preparing to set up the room and waiting for the evaluation of the visitation team from Banjarmasin.

"Later, if there is an improvement it will be conveyed at the visitation," said RSHD Director dr Nanda Sujud Andi Yudha Utama, Monday (October 4, 2021) in Barabai.

Nanda said the PCR will later be developed not only to use for COVID-19. "It can also use to check the chromosomes and other viruses. So, there is no idle," he said.

According to the director, PCR is 99 percent more accurate to detect virus. Although the COVID-19 cases tended to decrease, he hopes the PCR can still be used for tracing. The antigen test alone is sometimes incomplete, but PCR is more accurate.

Previously, COVID-19 patients from HST had a PCR test in Banjarmasin. After the hospitals in HSU and HSS had PCR, they were brought there. Having its own tool will make it easier for residents and the hospital.

Regarding staff to operate the PCR, dr Nanda said the budget includes training for the operator to operate the tool.

Meanwhile, RSHD signed an MoU with the HST Prosecutor's Office (Kejari) for cooperation in civil law and state administration.

Head of the Kejari Trimo said that with this cooperation his party could provide legal opinions and legal assistance.
