Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Kotabaru District now become a pilot areas of national food security program for its successful to increase the cultivation of food crops of rice, corn, and soybeans (Pajele) ranked 13 in Indonesia.


Chairman of Commission II of Kotabaru Assembly Syairi Mukhlis here on Sunday after a consultation meeting with the South Kalimantan Agriculture Agency appealed a support for agricultural intensification program in Earth Saijaan ( a nickname for Kotabaru).

"We appeal the ranks of the South Kalimantan provincial government to support the program to improve food security in Kotabaru through allocation of funds from the provincial budget," said Syairi Mukhlis.

He explained, related to support for food security programs in Kotabaru district, the central government has spent Rp6 billion from the 2015 state budget.

Simultaneously, he also expects the provincial government support by allocating a budget for the expansion of agricultural land and farm equipment procurement.

According to the PDIP's politician the support is very reasonable, because national honors in food security achieved by Kotabaru impact on positive image for South Kalimantan overall.
