Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The South Kalimantan's Central Statistics Agency (BPS) estimates rice production in the province which consists of 13 districts and cities to increase this year.


"The estimates are based on Forecast Figures (ARAM) I in 2015 as many as 2,268,871 tons of dried milled grain (GKG), up 174,281 tonnes or 8.32 percent compared to 2014," said South Kalimantan BPS head Dyan Pramono Effendy here on Wednesday.

He explained that the calculation of ARAM I 2015 from January to April, and ARAM II from April to October.

The increase in rice production sustained by an increase in harvested area is 498,133 hectares (ha) in 2014 to 534,058 ha in 2015, up 35.925 ha (7.21 per cent).

Similarly, rice productivity in South Kalimantan has increased from 42.05 quintal per hectare in 2014 to 42.48 quintal/ha in 2015.

While Figures Remain (ATAP) 2014, production of paddy rice 2.09459 million tons, up 63,561 tonnes or 3.13 per cent compared to 2013. The increase was due to increased area harvested in 2014 covering an area of ​​18,412 ha or 3.84 percent compared to 2013.
