Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - South Kalimantan Governor Rudy Ariffin hope the government will realize the plan to build 35 megawatt power plant to meet domestic energy needs.


According to the governor, the government's commitment to build the plant will be able to provide further impact on economic growth and investment in the country with quite remarkable.

"During this time, the economy of South Kalimantan is sustained by export-based production, such as coal and CPO, so the decline in prices also have an impact on the South Kalimantan," he said here on Tuesday.

With the 35 MW power plant construction project, he hopes, it able to encourage the growth of domestic industries and efforts to maximize the energy source for its own needs.

Earlier, on Monday (29/6), Senior Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia Adityaswara Mirza said that energy consumption in Indonesia continues to increase along with the increase in population and the continued expansion of the middle class.

On the other hand, he said, Indonesia is faced with the fact that the ability to produce energy is still limited so that the government faces an imbalance between supply and demand sides, especially on fuel, electricity, and gas.

"In fact, the availability of fuel, electricity, and gas is a prerequisite development of industrial sector and has an important role in employment and strengthening the competitiveness of Indonesian exports," he said.
