Two students from South and Central Kalimantan, Juriah and Lire, have finally completed higher education through the full support of the Adaro scholarship.
The girl from Tabalong (South Kalimantan) and Barito Timur (Central Kalimantan) has successfully completed education with a very satisfactory predicate in Taxation at the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Lambung Mangkurat (ULM).
Lire and Juriah were previously members of 236 recipients of the first phase of the Indonesia Bright Future Leaders (IBFL) scholarship program from Adaro.
Adaro organized an IBFL scholarship since 2018 to improve the quality of human resources, especially the best children from the company's operational areas, to continue their higher education.
During the study period, IBFL scholarship recipients receive full support from the company, including tuition fees, health insurance, living expenses for eight semesters with a total value of IDR80 million per person.
Juriah said this support was really useful for her, especially to ease the burden of parents to pay for all expenses during the study period.
“I thank Adaro anf ULM because this scholarship really helps me and my family," she said.
According to Lire, Adaro and ULM not only provide scholarships, but always accompany and facilitate students in developing other soft skills through training, workshop, and webinars.
“In addition to being assisted materially, we were also given briefings and other lessons to add insight,” she said.
She hopes that this program to continue and the other IBFL scholarship recipients to be able to follow for graduation next year.
CSR Division Head of PT Adaro Energy Tbk Okty Damayanti remarked that according to the name of the program, Indonesia Bright Future Leaders, it is hoped that the scholarship recipients will grow up to become leaders of the Indonesian nation who are intelligent and have good values.
“Adaro's goal is to see hundreds of students from SouthKalimantan, central Kalimantan, and South Sumatra become Indonesia leaders,” she said.
Okty said that what distinguishes Adaro's scholarship from the others is that Adaro does not only provide funds or opportunities to study at the best universities, but Adaro wants to nurture and hone the recipients in terms of personality and leadership so that they will become successful people in the future.
A representative from ULM Lisna Rahmawati said ULM really appreciated the activities carried out by Adaro, especially with different methods from other scholarship providers.
She hopes that the students who received the IBFL scholarship can excel not only in academic but also in non-academic fields.
“Alhamdulillah ULM has been able to work well with Adaro. We hope that this collaboration will continue to build human resources in Banua (South Kalimantan)," she said.
