Tanjung, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - A total of 434 displaced elderly (lansia) in Tabalong get compensation IDR200 thousand per person for the rest of their life as an effort of local governments to ease the burden on life of the elderly.


Head of Tabalong Social Affairs and Labor Yuhani in Tanjung Monday said social grants for the displaced elderly this year reached Rp1.04 billion specifically given to senior citizens over 60 years and his life still depends on the help of others.

"In addition to funding for neglected elderly, this year we also distribute social assistance for people with severe disabilities with a total allocation of Rp270 million," explained Yuhani.

Meanwhile, the Social Services of South Kalimantan Province also has realized a productive economic business assistance respectively Rp30 million and Rp20 million for the Joint Business Group (KUBE) and child assistance Rp1 million for 56 people.

"The number of poor people on Earth `Saraba Kawa` (nickname for Tabalong) reached 9,981 people with very poor category as many as 3,277 people and 3,648 nearly poor people. This a social program is expected to ease the burden of their life including to make ends meet," added Yuhani.

Including Social Rehabilitation program for Not Livable Houses (RSRTLH) for 24 poor people conducted by Social Welfare and Labor Agency to reduce the health and social problems in the region.
