Commander Infantry Battalion 623/BWU Major Inf Nur Rohman in Banjarbaru on Monday said the land area of ​​26 hectares planted maize, while rice reached 1.5 hectares.

"Corn field planted four months ago has been harvested, the rice as well, so we were quite succeeded in planting the two varieties," said Major Inf Nur Rohman in between harvests.

Corn field located in Kampung Seledri, Village Sungai Ulin, Sub-district of North Banjarbaru, planted with various varieties such as F1, Bimas 19, and Bisi 18. Corn planted by personnel Battalion 623/BWU assisted by three farmer groups fairly successful.

"Freshly picked corn can be sold IDR2,100 per kilogram. If the selling dried cob Rp3.100 per kilogram and land area of ​​one hectare can be harvested six tons," he said.

According to him, the corn is sold with a dry cob can be used as fodder or distributed to the processing plant, so it can support the food security program for livestock.

While, the type of rice planted and can be harvested namely Ciherang, IR16 to IR22 varieties with the production is quite high and the results are promising.
