Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Kotabaru district government plans to establish an agate certification body to maintain the quality and potential of local natural resources.
Head of Kotabaru Trade, Industry, and Market Management Agency Mahyudiansyah here on Thursday said, Kotabaru has a lot of potential of agate and the like that have quality and no less interesting than stones from other regions.
"Before the potential exploited and to maintain local values it need institutions that can provide stone certification from` Earth Saijaan` (nickname of Kotabaru), "he said.
Mahyudiansyah admits, now there is a district in South Kalimantan which has an institution that issues certification of stones. It resulting stone products well known throughout the country.
"Martapura well known by the people of Indonesia as an area has a distinctive Borneo stone and high value. This is supported by the certification institution that identifies stone," he explained.
In addition to keeping potential, the establishment of a certification body will facilitate an inventory of potential stones that processed and traded, as well as the potential for local revenue (PAD) to Kotabaru.
Mahyudianysah said, Kotabaru has many types of stone and each own characteristics, such as origin Patikala stone from Manggis, North Kelumpang, Panca Warna stone from Geronggang, Central Kelumpang, and Red Borneo origin of Sehapi, Kelumpang Hilir.
