The enthusiasm of people in Banjarmasin city to get vaccine jabs continues to increase until the achievement of COVID-19 vaccination has reached 37 percent.
The Health Agency previously said the target of COVID-19 vaccination in the third stage for the general public aged over 18 years was around 300,000.
The fact was when Mayor H Ibnu Sina visited Pemurus Baru Puskesmas (community health center) on Jalan Bumi Mas Raya, Friday, it was recorded 900 residents queuing for the vaccine.
Meanwhile, at the Karang Mekar Puskesmas on Jalan Ratu Zaleha, the queue for vaccination reached 500 residents.
"There are so many people who want to be vaccinated, it is just a matter of the availability of the vaccine. If it is sufficient the search for targets will be realized more quickly," said the Mayor.
In Banjarmasin, said Ibnu Sina, there are 26 puskesmas, while the availability of vaccine is lacking, then the acceleration of vaccination is hampered.
"Hopefully, when the vaccine comes, we will inject it directly, it will also be regulated so that there are no crowds. Maybe 100 a day in each puskesmas," he said.
According to the Mayor, the vaccination for the first vaccine dose in the city has reached 37 percent, while the second dose is 22.5 percent.
He asked the public to keep obeying the health protocols, both those who have received the vaccine jab and those who have not.
The reason, he said, is that the transmission of COVID-19 is still high, so everyone must be vigilant.
