Amuntai, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The government of North Hulu Sungai, South Kalimantan, targeting the construction of 203 rural sanitation to improve public health, especially for residents of riverbanks.

Head of Institutional and Community Participation in Community Empowerment and Village Government Board (BPMPD) Muhammad Hasan in Amuntai on Friday said, rural sanitation will be built through village fund and is expected to be completed in 2019 according to `Millennium Development Goals` target.

"We recommend that part of the village fund allocation (ADD) to be directed to the completion of this sanitation program, not only to build infrastructure as a tendency over the years," said Hasan.

He said, of the 219 villages in the North Hulu Sungai (HSU) there are still 208 villages that have not completed sanitation program.

The success of this program, he said, is also related to public awareness of the importance of hygiene and environmental health and a clean and healthy living behaviors or PHBs.

While, he said, the villagers are still focused on the improvement and development of infrastructure, such as rural roads and bridges rather than the issue of sanitation.
