PT Subur Agro Makmur's CDO Budi Wahyudi said that as the oil palm company in South Hulu Sungai (HSS) District, South Kalimantan, PT SAM continues its support to prevent forest and land fires through fire care program.

"The management of PT SAM through this program involves farmer groups working on agricultural land that directly related with the company's plantation," he said in Bajayau, Thursday (August 5, 2021).

This program is a form of synergy between the company and farmer groups to support efforts to prevent forest and land fires, as well as as a form of the company's concern for the agricultural sector in HSS.

Four farmer groups, Farmer Ray 2, Farmer Ray 10, Farmer Ray 17, and Farmer Ray 20 were involved in the program. They received assistance in the form of a pump machine, fire hoses, and nozzles.

"In addition, PT SAM provides 10 liters of herbicide for each farmer group to support agriculture," he said.

With a fire care program involving the community, PT SAM seeks to strengthen collaboration in the handling and prevention of forest and land fires in South Kalimantan, especially in HSS. The company believes that optimal collaboration will realize a sustainable strategy and can reduce the occurrence of fires.

Chief of Ray 10 farmers group Khalidi expressed his gratitude for the company's care and assistance to the farmer's group and said to be ready to support the effort to prevent forest and land fire.
