A team of students at IPB University created a "TTM" software to assist victims of sexual violence by facilitating easier reporting.

According to an official statement by the University of IPB here on Wednesday, the team of three -- Cindy Aurellie Hutomo, Ali Naufal Ammarullah, and Muhammad Fauzan Ramadhan -- created the software for the UNY IT Competition 2021. The software bagged them a third place in the competition.

At the competition focusing on software development as one of the means of supporting the realization of sustainable development goals, the developers devised the "TTM" software to address the issue of sexual violence rampantly experienced by women in Indonesia, be in individual or community domains, and the biased stereotype approach owing to which victims withdrew their cases.

"This application specifically targets sexual violence victims, especially women. TTM has three features of reporting, consulting, and panic button. The report feature allows the user to report the incident, thereby annulling the need to go to authorities," Ammarullah, one of the TTM developers, explained.

The report will be sent to the Ministry of Women's Empowerment And Child Protection. The counseling feature will connect the user to doctors and psychologists, as well facilitate communication with the Women's and Children's Best Friend Services (Layanan Sahabat Perempuan dan Anak).

The app also incorporates a panic button that alerts the surroundings when the user is experiencing sexual violence. By pressing the help button, the phone will emit noises as well as the screen will flash with a message requesting help.

"According to our survey of 57 respondents, 91.2 percent felt that this software can help in the concrete implementation of the Elimination of Sexual Violence Bill (RUU PKS) among people," Ramadhan stated.
