Indonesian Union for the Blind (Pertuni) in its 5th branch meeting at the Banjarmasin City Hall on Saturday expected the local government to provide business opportunities for its members in all fields, according to their abilities.
Advisor to Pertuni Banjarmasin H Hesly Junianto here said that it is expected that the government's attention would increase in developing their business in all lines.
"They also want independence and Pertuni program to be further enhanced to develop its members more professionally," said Hesly Junianto.
It means, he said, they are not simply known as masseurs as their abilities but are also given opportunities in other fields.
Mayor H Ibnu Sina said his party would facilitate access for persons with disabilities. "In an inclusive city all citizens must have access, it must be facilitated," he said.
"The residents of Banjarmasin have the right to get the results of development, no one should be left behind, those are the principles of an inclusive city. Hopefully, we can apply this," he said.
Ibnu Sina explained that the latest data on the number of people with disabilities in Banjarmasin City was 3,978 people.
"Hopefully your presence here is part of participation to build the city of Banjarmasin," he said.
