Amuntai, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Swamp buffalos in North Hulu Sungai, South Kalimantan, have the potential to be developed as a typical regional culinary industry.


North Hulu Sungai police chief AKBP Didik Mulyanto here on Tuesday said, some areas have developed culinary industry from cow and goat in processed meat and milk.

"I'm sure swamp buffalo also has the potential to be developed into a unique culinary of North Hulu Sungai (HSU)," said Didik.

HSU has been well known for its ducks Alabio as typical dishes, either grilled duck or processed into jerky and crackers duck.

Didik, who immediately finish his duty in HSU proposed to local governments and businesses to develop the potential of swamp buffalos for culinary tourism and small and medium industries (SMI).

Head of Livestock Development in the HSU Fisheries and Livestock Agency Akhmad Rijani said based on data from research results cholesterol content in the swamp buffalo meat is lower than beef.

"In addition to better meat quality and production costs are cheaper, swamp buffalo meat is also low in calories and fat," he said through a press release.
