The District Government of Central Hulu Sungai (HST) decided to postpone limited face-to-face learning at all school levels.

"According to the results of the coordination meeting with the COVID-19 Task Force on Thursday (July 8, 2021), the limited face-to-face learning which was planned to be held on Monday (July 12) in 39 sample schools was temporarily postponed," said acting Head of HST Education Agency Muhammad Anhar, Friday (July 9, 2021) in Barabai.

The decision, he said, is based on observing the development of data on the increase in the COVID-19 positive confirmed cases, as well as changes in zones.

Based on the development of COVID-19 data as of July 9,  2021, HST is in the moderate zone category with an accumulation of 1261 positive cases, 42 people being treated, 6 suspects, 1,126 people recovered, and 93 died.

Anhar said that the postponement is valid for one week, assuming limited face-to-face learning to be carried out starting July 19, 2021, by paying attention and considering the rate of spread of COVID-19 cases in HST.

"Due to the start of the 2021/2022 academic calendar on July 12, education units are still required to carry out online learning," he said.

Meanwhile, Head HST Office of Religious Affairs Ministry (Kemenag) H Saifudin said that the policy between his office and the Education Agency is one coordination in one area.

"Our decision at the Kemenag follows the results based on the finalization of HST Task Force policy, so our decision is the same to postpone face-to-face learning in all schools under the Kemenag," he said.
