Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Governor of South Kalimantan H Rudy Ariffin said five Indonesian mogrant workers (TKI) that were punished by death in Saudi Arabia eventually be released after paying diyat syar`i Rp1.2 billion.

"South Kalimantan provincial government already paid diyat (blood money) syar`i Rp1.2 billion for the release of five of our citizens threatened with beheading in Saudi Arabia," he said in Banjarmasin, Tuesday.

According to him, the diyat payments made after the prisoners received forgiveness from the victim's family. Payment of funds taken from the local budget (APBD) of South Kalimantan provincial government.

Rudy did not identify the five migrant workers, except to say that they were caught in a murder case. In the next process, they received forgiveness from the heirs of the victim, who did not specify the diyat.

"So this diyat we pay it to the public for the freedom of all our workers, since the heirs of the victim did not specify how many," he explained.

According to Rudy, two days ago the Indonesian consulate general in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, has been contacted and stated that the process is almost complete for their repatriation.

"But I do not understand, it just waiting for a letter from the governor. Is it me the governor or governor in Saudi Arabia. But clearly the letter of release from prison head over there," he explained.
