Head of Plantation of HSU Forestry, Plantation, Energy and Mineral Resources Agency Fahmi Rizaini in Amuntai said Saturday it encourage rubber farmers to rejuvenate the rubber with the help of seeds distributed

"Qualified seeds distributed to farmers for rejuvenation in an area of ​​22 acres," said Fahmi.

The government hopes rubber farmers respond to this rejuvenation plan, even though it costs greater than the expansion of rubber plantation land.

"Rejuvenation rubber would have to charge more because they have to do logging of old trees, while expansion only to plant on land that is still empty," he said.

However, said Fahmi, Indonesia bound to treaty of three largest rubber producing countries in the world not to expansd rubber plants, but only rejuvenation.

The three largest rubber producing countries in the world, namely Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia have signed an agreement to no longer carry out the expansion of rubber planting in their respective countries.

Rubber plantation in North Hulu Sungai only in an area of ​​717.7 ha developed in two sub-districts, namely Banjang and North Amuntai.
