The Secretary of Tanah Laut District H Dahnial Kifli together with Head of Food Security and Fisheries (DKPP Tala) Rizayadi and the Functional Coordinator of Mandiangin Freshwater Cultivation Fisheries Center (BPBAT) Jamilah Hayati sowed superior seeds of climbing gourami (locally known as papuyu) and snakehead fish (haruan) in the Benua Biru reservoir in Benua Raya Village, Bati-Bati Sub-district.
The superior freshwater seeds, that were sown in the series of Manunggal Tuntung Pandang (MTP) tradition activities, were assistance from BPBAT Mandiangin with a total of 10,000 seeds.
Head of DKPP Rizayadi hopes that the distribution of freshwater seeds to contribute to improving the welfare of people living around the waters.
He stated his support for the community as the spearhead of supervision and plays an active role in preserving the fish resources from illegal fishing.
“Hopefully it develops well and be useful for the community. Please look after and maintain it, so it can become a fish stock in this area. We will put up a warning sign not to catch fish illegally, such as using electric shock,” said Rizayadi.

Separately, Jamilah Hayati said the distribution of superior local fish seeds was aimed at preserving the diversity of fish resources and increasing catch fisheries products after flood disaster that hit Bati-Bati.
“We chose this location because it was affected by flooding, besides that here we already have a reservoir, so we recommend it,” she explained.
Also attended were the head of the Bati-Bati Sub-district, the chief of Benua Raya Village, and the community around the waters.
