Amuntai, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The North Hulu Sungai, South Kalimantan, Agency for Agriculture and Food Security states it still wary of the potential of food shortages in 2015.


Head of Food Security of the agency Listanti Entin here on Saturday said from all related local government offices meeting in the Province it was reportedly almost all districts and cities in South Kalimantan in 2014 prone to food shortages.

"Do not mean prone to be frontal that HSU (North Hulu Sungai) district society experiencing food insecurity or hunger," he said.

According to him, the term food insecurity is from the central government to describe the food security conditions of an area based on the calculation of food and nutrition alert system or SKPQ.

Entin explained food shortages caused by the availability and utilization of food are still low. Aspects of food availability is affected by extreme weather. While aspects of food utilization seen from the percentage of children who gained weight was still less than 80 percent compared to the number of infants who weighed at posyandu (integrated health services posts).
