Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Rector of the University of Lambung Mangkurat (Unlam) Banjarmasin Prof. Dr. Sutarto Hadi said a number of professors will be entering retirement preparation period, then a lot of successors are required.

"If this is not a concern, we will have professors deficit," he said, while presiding the open Senate in a bestowment ceremony of two professors, namely Prof. Dr. Ir Biyatmoko and Prof. Dr. Dr. Zairin Noor, Thursday (19/3).

According to him, this issue is very risky, because you can imagine is the largest university in South Kalimantan has minimal professors as the numbers continue to shrink.

"For over six months I became rector we only added three professors, at the same time Prof. Dr. Muhansyah of the Faculty of Agriculture retired and five other professors to follow," said a 2014-2018 period rector.

Thus, Sutarto reiterated, if not immediately anticipated Unlam, will have deficit professor, now it only has 28 in total. Many professors will retire, while lecturers who already have a doctorate degree (S3) are not ready to be professors.

"In fact, we have almost 180 doctorate degree (S3) lecturers. Many who want to be professors, but have not been accomplished as the decree not publish yet," he said.

He recognized, the requirements to become a professortoday is tightened and extremely difficult, of which make scientific papers in international journals which have a reputation.
