The Government of South Hulu Sungai (HSS) District, HSS Resort Police (Polres), and the 1003 Kandangan District Military Command (Kodim) issued a joint circular to temporarily close all tourist attractions.

Regent H Achmad Fikry in Kandangan on Monday (May 10, 2021) said that the joint circular was issued taking into account the latest development related to the spike in the spread of COVID-19.

"Aiming to anticipate crowds to occur during the Idul Fitri holidays, this closure applies to tourist attractions managed by the local government or the private or community," he said at Ramu Hall, HSS government office.

The temporary closure is applied to all tourist attractions in HSS from 11 to 16 May 2021, and the supervision is carried out by the Youth, Sports, and Tourism Office (Disporapar).

The sub-district heads are instructed to coordinate with local village and urban village heads to then coordinate with local police and military chiefs.

Even though the closure was declared, the local government and related stakeholders continued to alert monitoring posts in the Loksado. It was intended to tighten tourist visit wishing to enter the Loksado National Tourism Strategic Area (KSPN).

“During the coordination meeting there was a discourse to open the tourist attraction, however after we discussed with the leadership communication forum (Forkopimda) it did not take place, and we close all tourist attractions," he said.
