Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Organization of environmentalists, Forum Komunitas Hijau (Green Community Forum) Banjarmasin planted a number of Meratus orchid species in city's park of Korem.
Vice chairman of the forum (FKH) Mohammad Ary at the site in the Banjarmasin Military Command Post (Korem) on Jalan Lambung Mangkurat on Saturday said the planting is to beautify the city.
In this green movement, FKH assisted by environmental group Friends of Proboscis Indonesia (SBI), who also gave Meratus orchid seeds.
Species of orchids planted in the urban jungle like giant orchids or cane orchid (Grammatophyllum speciosum), Cymbidium orchids, orchid Anosmum, and dove orchid.
According to him, besides orchids, urban jungle located in the center of town was planted with palm trees, gitaan, red bud, and various other plants.
Previously, FKH planted Lukut or bird fern (Asplenium Nidus).
Both orchids and Lukut planted by attaching to high trambesi tree or greening trees which have humidity corresponding to the orchid habitat.
