Amuntai, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The high prices of timber caused swamp buffalo breeders in Sub-district Paminggir, North Hulu Sungai (HSU) District, difficult to build stables.

Sapala Village Head Isnaini in Paminggir on Monday said the high price of wood galih due to flooding lately.

"This type of wood is obtained from the soil, so that in case of floods, farmers are unable to obtain timber and automatically price jumped," said Isnaini.

Usually, when dry season Blangiran or Galih wood easier to find or buy. Buffalo breeders generally seek or buy Blangiran in the border with Central Kalimantan, where many wood types grown here, such as in the Sambujur and Tampakang Village.

Galih and blangiran wood are the main material for stable floor as both are strong and durable. "Galih wood used for decades, while the young Blangiran wood only lasted two years," he said.

Currently, Galih wood worth Rp100 thousand per stem, while young Blangiran between Rp50 thousand to Rp80 thousand per stem depending on the size.

The HSU Fisheries and Livestock Agency (Diskannak) seeks to find solutions in order to prop buffalo can be made without using blangiran wood again.

The solution is Diskannak implements programs of landfill makings table, namely the stable floor for swamp buffalo no longer use Galina Wood but soil backfill.
