The City Government of Banjarmasin launched a river mobile lab for Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BBPOM) by using traditional motorboat kelotok, Saturday.
Head of BPOM Banjarmasin Ary Yustanti Ningsih said the innovation of mobile lab kelotok (then called kerling) is to adapt local wisdom in Banjarmasin City, namely rivers and floating markets.
She said there are three kelotok that will crusing the river in the city, and the plan is to add more.
The aim is to provide communication, information, and education, as well as to conduct food testing to determine the presence or absence of hazardous substances.
"This is what we use to echo to check KLIK, K for packaging, L is label, I stands for the permit, K is expiration. We educate the public to always check KLIK first before consuming drug and food," she explained.
Acting Secretary of the City H Mukhyar appreciated the launch of kerling with the hope of increasing supervision to protect the public against food that does not meet the quality and safety requirements.
"I hope it is not only the mobile lab kelotok to be activated, because we will be entering karena the holy month of Ramadhan maybe there are some Ramadhan cake fair market need to be supervised," he said.
