Martapura, South Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Banjar District Education Agency dismisses dozens of schools from learning activities as a result of flooding.


"We instructed the principals to dismiss learning activities if flooded since Monday," said Head of Banjar Education Agency, Ruspan Noor, in Martapura on Thursday.

Waters inundated schools varied in heights between 10 to 50 centimeters, thus soaking the classrooms floor and learning impaired. Thus, 24 schools of various levels were closed.

Schools are inundated most primary schools are scattered in four sub-districts, namely Martapura, Astambul, West and East Martapura.

According to Ruspan, who was accompanied by Head of Sarpras Sawiyan, the policy is situational depending on the condition of the school. When the water receded and did not inundate the school, the teaching and learning activities continued.

To close schools policy is not applied the same depending on the height of rain that soaked the school environment.

"There are schools that all students are off, but there is also a part of it. For example, grade 1 to grade 3 off, while grade 4 to grade 6 still go to school," he explained.
