Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The South Kalimantan Animal Husbandry is developing dairy goats or goat hybrid etawa to improve the farmers well-being as well as to meet the needs of dairy in this province.


Researchers for Husbandry Technology Studies Agency (BPTP), Ahmad Hamdan in Banjarmasin said on Monday through Etawa breeding, district and provincial governments in South Kalimantan also seek to improve the human resources.

"With the fulfillment of the needs of milk, public health, especially children, expected will get better, as well as intelligence," he said.

As a step to increase milk production, the government has poured Etawa aid to groups of farmers in some districts in South Kalimantan, among others in Barito Kuala.

One group of farmers who have this support is, cattle farmer in the village of Suka Ramai, Sub-district Belawang, Batola. Each group of farmers get help in the form of 50 female etawa goats and six male goats.

According to Hamdan, besides being able to produce goat milk etawa hybrid is also able to improve the welfare of farmers in the area, due within one year goat can give birth to three.
